Aktionistisches Symposium zum Dekolonialismus im Musiktheater
Achtung: Wegen des Wetters finden um 11.00 Uhr nur die erste DJ-Session (DJ Júlio) und der Workshop von Kajan Luc auf dem Amerigo-Vespucci-Platz statt. 12:00 Uhr findet die Nudelbar statt, und um 12:30 Uhr beginnt das Panel in der Quarterpipe, einschließlich „Choir of Uncivilized Voices“ von Mable Preach.
Attention: Due to the weather, only the first DJ session (DJ Júlio) and Kajan Luc’s workshop will take place at Amerigo Vespucci Square at 11:00 a.m. The Noodle Bar will take place at 12:00 p.m., and the panel discussion will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Quarterpipe, including Choir of Uncivilized Voices by Mable Preach.
„Slap that colonial Baak!“ lädt zur Pop-Up-Nudelbar am Baakenhafen ein – mit Workshops, Aktionen und offenen Formaten im Stadtraum. Gemeinsam mit Hamburger Kulturschaffenden erkunden wir dekoloniale Perspektiven im Musiktheater und darüber hinaus.
Der Ort ist kein Zufall: Während des Völkermords an den Herero und Nama war der Baakenhafen ein zentraler Schauplatz kolonialer Gewalt. Heute soll hier eine neue Oper entstehen – bislang ohne ausreichende kritische Auseinandersetzung mit historischen Verstrickungen.
Zwischen Bauprojekt und Erinnerungslücke fragen wir: Welche Geschichten werden erzählt, welche bleiben unsichtbar? Das interaktive Symposium lädt ein zum Zuhören, Mitmachen und Widersprechen.
“Slap that Colonial Baak!” invites you to a pop-up noodle bar at Baakenhafen — with workshops, actions, and open formats in urban space. Together with Hamburg-based cultural practitioners, we explore decolonial perspectives in music theatre and beyond.
The location is no coincidence: during the genocide of the Herero and Nama, Baakenhafen was a central site of colonial violence. Today, a new opera house is planned here — so far without sufficient critical engagement with these historical entanglements.
Between construction project and gaps in memory, we ask: Which stories are told, and which remain invisible? This interactive symposium invites you to listen, participate, and dissent.

Wer gestaltet Erinnerung – und für wen? Welche Perspektiven, Geschichten und Gemeinschaften fehlen bislang? Und wie lassen sich durch Stimmen, visuelle Materialien und künstlerische Mittel neue Erinnerungsräume im Stadtraum öffnen, neu eröffnen und verhandeln?

Findet es heraus im Gespräch mit Hamburger Kulturschaffenden aus verschiedenen künstlerischen und institutionellen Kontexten. Gemeinsam diskutieren wir die politischen, ästhetischen und praktischen Herausforderungen eines dekolonialen Musiktheaters und fragen, wie sich bestehende Strukturen verändern lassen.
What do Italian cartographers, Chinese guest workers, and flip-flops have to do with one another? Find out in a conversation with Hamburg-based cultural practitioners from various artistic and institutional contexts. Together, we will discuss the political, aesthetic, and practical challenges of decolonial music theatre and ask how existing structures can be transformed.´
